Through the element shape, how can we use balance in an active (sports) environment? With a lot of experience in sports throughout high school, when I began my SI, I noticed I captured and edited subjects in the center of the image, making the images symmetrical. I wanted to put more focus on moving subjects to the rule of thirds, creating asymmetrical balance. Lastly, with radial balance, I led the eye in a circular movement by using the subjects. I used photojournalism to explore how shapes of athletes create different balances throughout my photos.

My SI opens with symmetry, using subjects (shapes) in my sketchbook (1) & images 2-3 to create tighter space. Image 4 I digitally combined my images to show a unique aspect of symmetry. I move to asymmetrical balance with my sketchbook (5) and images 6-7, using the rule of thirds & emphasis on space. Image 8 (sketchbook) & 9 is digitally manipulated with a color drag to show action. Images 10-11 mix asymmetric & radial to transition. Images 12-13 use a high angle, showing loose radial, forming a circular movement. Image 14-15 ends with tight space & a close shot to capture the decisive moment.
